On October 22, 2026, Ideogram released Ideogram Vector 1.0, its first model that draws an editable SVG instead of pixels. There are two ways in. A text prompt builds a logo, lettering, or illustration as vectors from the start. An existing image — JPEG, PNG, or WEBP — becomes shapes you can scale and recolor. Regular Ideogram AI models still return a raster: the word “vector” in their prompt does not create an SVG.
What Ideogram Vector can do
On the model page, Ideogram shows five kinds of work: lettering, illustrations, logos, merch print, and labels and stickers. You can select a single shape and move it, and recolor the SVG to a brand palette. The model runs in the Ideogram web app and in the API.
For generation (ideogram-vector-1), a prompt is required. Quality is low, medium, or high, and the aspect ratio is the aspect_ratio parameter. References are optional: the first image is the main one, and any others are extra. dry_run returns the price of the request without generating anything or charging you.
Image to SVG is a separate call, and it doesn’t need a prompt. The file can be up to 50 MB, in JPEG, PNG, or WEBP. simple uses fewer shapes, detailed keeps fine detail, and auto chooses. Both calls are asynchronous: the response is a generation_id, and you fetch the result separately.
How much Ideogram Vector costs
Prices on the model page are per SVG:

Low and medium with references cost the same as without them. The page doesn’t say how many credits the Ideogram app itself charges.
Ideogram Vector and Recraft
Ideogram Vector isn’t the first model to output SVG. Adobe showed Adobe Firefly Vector in Illustrator on October 10, 2023, and Recraft AI — Vector and Vector Pro in V4 (February 17, 2026) and V4.1 (May 14, 2026) — builds an editable file with layers, without tracing. What Ideogram adds is a separate API conversion of an existing image into curves, and the price: vectorization from $0.10. Text on a mark is still Ideogram’s strength. The company started there, and the Vector announcement explicitly carries that skill into SVG shapes.
Ideogram doesn’t publish the architecture, the number of anchor points, or whether lettering comes back as live text or outlines, and there are no independent SVG quality tests yet. The detailed vectorization mode produces many paths and a heavy file. Open it in an editor before you print.
