Seedance free: where to try 2.0 and 2.5 officially and what you get without paying

Seedance is one of the strongest video models of 2026: on the Arena ranking Seedance 2.0 is 5th of 48. That’s why “seedance free” draws thousands of searches a month, and the results are full of sites with Seedance in the domain. We checked the terms against ByteDance’s own pages: where the model is officially free, what exactly the free plan unlocks, where to look for Seedance 2.5 and how to work with the model elsewhere.

Seedance free: where the model is officially available

The Dreamina FAQ dated September 10, 2026 gives the limit: free users get 120 credits a day, refreshed daily and shared between images and video. How many Seedance clips those credits make depends on the model, length and resolution, and the cost is shown before you generate. Figures like “225 credits a day” from third-party guides are outdated or unconfirmed.

What Dreamina’s free plan gives you

On Dreamina’s daily credits you can generate a Seedance 2.0 clip from text or from references: up to 12 references at a time, of which up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio files. Dreamina lists the rest as subscription benefits:

• the watermark: it can be removed only on a paid plan;
• clip extension: only with a subscription;
• upscaling and 4K for some models: on the Advanced plan;
• smoothness up to 60 FPS and lip sync with sound: with a subscription.

Dreamina prices paid use per second of video: in the first-month promo, Seedance 2.0 Fast and Mini cost $0.008 per second in 720p and Pro costs $0.016. The promo runs in 12 countries. CapCut additionally puts a visible watermark and a C2PA label on Seedance clips, which platforms use to recognize AI video.

ByteDance restricts portraits of real people separately: using a photo of a real person as a reference requires identity verification or legal permission.

Seedance 2.5 free: where to look

Seedance 2.5 came out on July 31, 2026. The main difference from 2.0 is a clip of up to 30 seconds per generation instead of 15, and up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio files in references instead of 9, 3 and 3. For more on the difference between versions, see the overview of Seedance.

ByteDance is releasing Seedance 2.5 in China’s services: Jimeng (web version → “Video generation” → Seedance 2.5) and Doubao Pro. The API in BytePlus ModelArk is announced as “coming soon”. The announcement doesn’t mention free access to 2.5. Jimeng and Doubao work in Chinese and are built for the Chinese market, which makes them an awkward route for users elsewhere.

“Seedance free” sites: who owns them

The top results for “seedance free” are sites with the model’s name in the domain: seedance.ai, seedance.tv, seadance.io and a dozen similar ones. Some call themselves the “official site”. They aren’t: the model’s official page is seed.bytedance.com, and ByteDance’s consumer services are Dreamina, CapCut, Jimeng and Doubao.

What you risk on a third-party site:

• the terms of “free” aren’t disclosed: the site decides how many clips to give and changes the rules without warning;
• you can’t verify the model: a different, cheaper model can run under the Seedance banner;
• watermark and rights: often in small print or not described at all;
• “Seedance download”: no such version exists, because ByteDance doesn’t publish the model’s weights, and programs and “mods” offered for download aren’t from the developer.

Seedance outside Dreamina

The official free route is limited: Dreamina and CapCut rolled out Seedance 2.0 country by country, the Dreamina promo runs in 12 countries, and Jimeng and Doubao are aimed at China.

How not to waste credits

Free credits are always scarce, and video is the most expensive kind of generation. These techniques save attempts in both Dreamina and AI2Face.

1. Start with a first frame. Generate an image, for example in Nano Banana Pro, or take a ready one and bring it to life: composition, light and character are already set, and the model only has to add motion. Settling the frame with an image is many times cheaper than trying clip after clip. How to write a prompt for animation is covered in the guide animate a photo.

2. Test the idea with a short clip. Make 4–5 seconds in 720p and see whether the model understood the motion and the camera. Run a long Seedance 2.5 clip of up to 30 seconds once the prompt already works.

3. Lay out the shots in order. Seedance builds several shots in one generation. Number them in the prompt (wide, medium, close-up) and specify the camera movement for each. That way the model is less likely to mix up the order or stretch one moment across the whole clip.

Shot 1: wide shot, a lighthouse on a cliff in a storm, waves hit the rocks, slow push-in.
Shot 2: medium shot, the keeper climbs a spiral staircase with a lantern, camera follows from behind.
Shot 3: close-up, the lantern light turns on, warm glow fills the frame.
Sound: wind, rain, footsteps on metal stairs, a low cello note at the end.

4. Describe the sound on a separate line. Seedance generates sound together with the video. If you don’t say what should be heard, the model decides for itself, and you’ll have to redo the clip.

Bottom line

Seedance is officially free only through Dreamina’s daily credits: Seedance 2.0 with a watermark, and without extension or upscaling. Seedance 2.5 isn’t given away free anywhere, and sites with “seedance” in the domain have nothing to do with ByteDance.
