Free AI video generator: where to make clips without paying in 2026

Video is the most expensive kind of generation, so free video in 2026 always comes with conditions: a short clip, low resolution, no sound, a watermark or a daily cap. We collected the services whose free access is described in the developer’s own help pages, checked where they’re available, and compared the models against an independent quality ranking. The result: the fully free options are easy to get, but their quality lags well behind the global leaders.

Why the fully free generators lose on quality

On Arena (formerly LMArena), people compare two clips made from the same prompt without knowing the models and pick the better one. As of September 21, 2026, the video leaderboard lists 48 models and more than 718,000 votes.

Kandinsky landed in the bottom quarter of the table, and Yandex’s model isn’t on it at all. The gap shows beyond the ranking, too. The free Russian clips are silent: Alice AI and Kandinsky 5.0 don’t generate sound, and Alice is also limited to 480p and 4 seconds. Gemini Omni, Veo 3.1 and Seedance generate sound together with the picture: ambience, music and dialogue.

Alice AI and Shedevrum: free video from Yandex

Alice AI turns photos into video. In the Alice AI app, the Yandex app with Alice, Yandex Browser or at alice.yandex.ru, open “Studio” → “Animate,” upload a JPEG or PNG up to 10 MB and describe the motion. Yandex’s help lists the clip specs plainly: 480p (854 × 480), up to 4 seconds, MP4, no sound. After the free cap, Yandex offers a “boost” for 100 rubles for extra generations per month. Shedevrum makes short clips from a text prompt. Its help pages don’t give the number of free clips. You can only download the video as MP4 after publishing it to the Shedevrum feed — so if the clip shouldn’t be public, this route won’t work.

GigaChat: Kandinsky for text-to-video and image-to-video

Video in GigaChat is made by Kandinsky 5.0. Sber’s help says you can generate clips for free right after signing up, from text or an image, in 16:9 or 9:16. There’s a request cap, but the help doesn’t give the number. The model doesn’t generate sound: Sber suggests adding music in a video editor.

Access requires a Russian IP, a Sber ID and any VPN turned off.

Gemini Omni by Google: ranking leader with strings attached

Gemini Omni holds first place on Arena. But you can’t make video for free in the Gemini app: Google’s help requires a Google AI plan, and the app itself works only in the countries Google lists.

Google does have free routes, just outside the Gemini app:

• YouTube Shorts Remix and YouTube Create. Google opened Gemini Omni in them for free to users 18 and older. Clips run up to 10 seconds. YouTube’s help lists five countries: Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand and the US.
• Google Vids. Anyone with a Google account can generate video for free with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash in 1080p. Every clip carries a digital watermark. Google’s announcement doesn’t specify country availability.

Omni’s predecessor, Veo 3.1, was also limited to subscribers in the Gemini app.

Kling: daily credits with a watermark

Kling has a free Basic plan with daily credits. Kling doesn’t publish exactly how many on its pages. But its credit policy spells out what the free plan doesn’t unlock: 1080p video, watermark removal, the fast-track queue and clip extension. Kling reserves commercial use for paid subscriptions.

“Free Veo 3.1, no sign-up” sites

Search results are full of sites with a model name in the domain promising “free and unlimited.” These aren’t Google, ByteDance or Kuaishou sites: developers release their models in their own services and via API. A third-party site decides on its own how many free clips to give and changes the terms without notice. OpenAI shut down Sora in 2026, so “free Sora” sites aren’t Sora.

Free AI video does exist: Alice AI animates photos, while Kandinsky in GigaChat and Shedevrum make clips from text — all of them Russian-language services. But these are short, silent clips from models low on the Arena ranking or off it. The leaders — Gemini Omni, Seedance, Veo — are free only in Google services with country limits.
