What is Seedance 2.0

Seedance 2.0 is a video generation model from the ByteDance Seed team. It came out on February 12, 2026, and was the first Seedance model to generate picture and sound with a single architecture and accept four input types at once: text, images, video and audio.

The lineup has three models with nearly identical features:

  • Seedance 2.0 — the best quality, and the only one with 1080p and 4K;
  • Seedance 2.0 Fast — released alongside 2.0, a balance of speed and cost;
  • Seedance 2.0 Mini — added in June 2026, the cheapest.

Seedance 2.5 arrived in the summer of 2026 with clips up to 30 seconds. 2.0 is still part of the lineup, though: it’s the only version with 4K, and Fast and Mini remain the cheapest way to get video with sound from ByteDance.

What Seedance 2.0 can do

Clips with sound, 4–15 seconds. The audio is stereo and generated together with the picture: background music, sound effects and character voices come as parallel tracks.

Several shots in one clip. The model follows a text storyboard — “Shot 1… Shot 2…” — and changes shot size and angle on its own, from shot-reverse-shot dialogue to wide establishing shots.

Multimodal references. Up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio clips plus text. From images it takes the character, style and composition; from video, motion, camera work and effects; from audio, the voice, melody and dialogue. “Text + audio” and “audio only” aren’t supported: audio needs at least one image or video alongside it.

First and last frame. One image sets the start of the clip, two set the start and the end. The model builds the motion in between.

A pair for first-and-last-frame mode: the bud and the open flower with the same angle and lighting. Seedance 2.0 fills in the opening between them. Images made with Nano Banana Pro

Editing finished video. Replace a character or object, add, remove or change an element, or redraw part of the frame. An example from ByteDance’s docs: “Replace the cat in [Video 1] with the lion from [Image 1].”

Extension. The model continues a clip from your prompt and keeps the character and the scene.

The last frame as an image. On request, the model returns the final frame as a still. Use it as the first frame of the next clip to build a longer story from several generations.

Seedance 2.0 vs. Fast vs. Mini

Sound yes yes yes
480p draft mode no no no

All three share the same feature set: text to video, first frame, first and last frame, references, editing, extension and sound. They differ only in quality, price and the resolution ceiling.

Seedance 2.0 vs. 2.5: which one to use

Seedance 2.0 Seedance 2.5
Length per generation 4–15 s 4–30 s
4K yes no, 1080p max
References 15 (9 + 3 + 3) 50 (30 + 10 + 10)
Timestamps in the prompt no, shot numbers only yes
Multi-view character sheet not recommended supported
Cheaper variants Fast, Mini none

Use 2.0 when you need 4K or lots of cheap drafts on Fast and Mini. Use 2.5 when the clip runs past 15 seconds, when you have many characters and references, or when you need to edit finished video at a timestamp. The two versions have a different look, so keep a single project on one model.

What Seedance 2.0 is good for

  • 10–15 second ads and promos from a product photo: the product comes from the reference, motion and music from the prompt.
  • Music-driven clips: a track as an audio reference sets the rhythm and the edit.
  • Copying a move or effect from another clip with your own character.
  • Swapping a character or object in finished video.
  • A 4K final for big screens, once the drafts are locked on Fast or Mini.

Seedance 2.0 beats the alternatives on references: it’s the only one that takes images, video and audio in a single request. Veo 3.1 is more precise with short scenes and physics, and Kling 3.0 is more convenient for storyboards built around character elements.

How to write prompts for Seedance 2.0

  1. Number your references and give each a role: “the heroine from [Image 1], camera move from [Video 1], music from [Audio 1].”
  2. Split the clip into shots, not seconds. Seedance 2.0 doesn’t respond to timestamps and only follows shot numbers — ByteDance points this out in its guide for version 2.5.
  3. Describe the sound: dialogue in quotes, the music, key sound effects.
  4. Give the character as a single image. ByteDance doesn’t recommend multi-view sheets for 2.0.
  5. Test the idea on Fast or Mini at 480p, then render the final on 2.0 at the resolution you need.

Shot 1: close-up of a bamboo whisk frothing bright green matcha in a bowl, fine splashes, morning light.
Shot 2: the matcha pours into a glass of milk and ice, the layers slowly blend, ice clinks.
Shot 3: a young woman in a linen shirt takes a sip on a sunny porch and smiles at the camera.
Sound: soft lo-fi beat, clinking ice, rustling leaves. No subtitles.

How to use Seedance 2.0 in AI2Face

Seedance 2.0 is in the AI2Face generator alongside Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0.

  1. Sign up — new accounts get starter credits.
  2. Open the generator, switch to video and pick Seedance 2.0.
  3. Upload references, write the prompt shot by shot, set the length and resolution.
  4. The credit cost is shown before you start. Credits don’t expire.

You can create the product or character reference in the same place, for example with Nano Banana Pro.

Limitations

  • Detail and realism. In its technical report, ByteDance says detail stability, hyper-realism and liveliness of motion still need work.
  • Audio. The sound occasionally distorts.
  • Multiple characters and text. The developer lists multi-character consistency, on-screen text and complex edits as weak spots.
  • No timestamps. Clip structure can only be set with shot numbers.
  • No 1080p on Fast and Mini. Higher resolutions are only in the full 2.0.
  • Real faces. Using a real person’s portrait as a reference requires identity verification or legal authorization.

Bottom line

Seedance 2.0 is a solid choice for clips up to 15 seconds when you want references from images, video and sound at once, or 4K output. Fast and Mini make it the cheapest way to test a video idea with sound. For clips longer than 15 seconds, timestamp edits and dozens of references, move up to Seedance 2.5. If short-scene physics matters most, compare the result with Veo 3.1 in the same AI2Face generator.
